The event took place at the Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin. Presentations throughout the day showed how community assistance can range from direct support for people facing hardship to programmes promoting independence and inclusion.
Cllr. Francis Timmons, Mayor of South Dublin, discussed the work of Clondalkin Helping Homeless and its support for people experiencing homelessness and hardship.
Viktor Kozyrev, co-founder of VOLA Enable, presented programmes designed to improve inclusion and quality of life for people with disabilities news eugene and other vulnerable groups.
Scientology Volunteer Minister Silvia Fani then presented examples of volunteer activity carried out locally and internationally.
Created in the 1970s by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, the Volunteer Ministers programme is centred on providing practical help in everyday difficulties and times of crisis. Its motto is “Something Can Be Done About It.”
Participants concluded part of the programme with a practical workshop demonstrating methods associated with Volunteer Minister training.
The Dublin event provided a snapshot of the many forms community service can take when groups respond to local needs.
